Introduction
  • Mob
  • Choreography by Park Su Yeol
The human desire to become stronger has always existed. Humans have always longed to escape their frail existence. They admire the ferocity and strength of animals and yearn for the boundless capabilities of machines and technology. Driven by the endless ambition to create something with limitless power and vitality, humans have continuously endeavored to achieve this through science and technology. The arrogant belief that anything can be made with science and technology, coupled with the endless desire to become transcendent beings, ultimately led humans to create monstrous beings. The monsters born from human arrogance in becoming transcendent beings gradually undermine the unique dignity possessed only by humans and reduce them to powerless entities. If this continues, humans might be overwhelmed by the infinite power and abilities of their creation, disappearing without a trace, unable to resist.
“Mob” explores the primal human desire for power and abilities beyond reach from ancient times to the present. At the same time, it reveals the distorted perspective of humanity striving to surpass its own vitality and dignity. Through intense and grotesque movements, the work criticizes the arrogant attitude of humans attempting to become transcendent beings. It reexamines the duality of machines and technology, questioning the direction in which posthumanism should proceed in this era.
Park Su Yeol graduated from the Korea National University of Arts with a major in Dance Performance and earned a PhD in Integrated Arts Therapy from Daegu Catholic University. He is currently the head of “SUMOVE” and works as both a dance educator and a choreographer. He has been working on experimental projects that create new forms of art through collaboration with various artists, and he is actively involved in research-based works both domestically and internationally. In December 2023, he received the Encouragement Award at the Yokohama Dance Collection “Competition I.” He was the only Korean choreographer to reach the finals and the first to receive a unanimous jury decision for the special award since the event’s inception in 1996. In 2025, he is invited to perform at the cultural exchange event of the Finland International Dance Competition.

  • No, Yes
  • Choreography by Jeong Jina
The work “No, Yes” by choreographer Jeong Jina is inspired by Albert Camus’s “The Rebel” and captures the image of humans resisting absurdity through movement. Absurdity refers to something that does not make sense or contradicts reason or, philosophically, something from which no meaning can be derived. French writer and philosopher Albert Camus stated that no matter how hard we try to live, life is ultimately absurd because it ends in death. However, he argued that despite this, we must live a life of rebellion against absurdity to exist as humans. Why do we strive so hard to live?

“No, Yes” explores “why” we must resist and “how” we should exist to protect our values and freedom in an absurd life. Now, we must say “No” against oppression and confinement, and from the moment we feel the impulse of rebellion, we must be able to say “Yes.” This conveys the message that we must continuously pursue our values and freedom even in an absurd reality.
Jeong Jina is a choreographer and dancer based in Daejeon. Since 2011, she has performed in various works as a member of the “Meta Dance Project,” and in 2015, she began her own creative work in earnest. She draws inspiration mainly from human instinctive desires, social issues arising from everyday life, and human relationships. Using these as motifs, she highlights the individuality of each dancer and focuses on expressing authentic movements. Her notable works include “How to Become a Tree” (2023), “Hue,” “After meeting” (2022), “bossy, la” (2019), and “bossy” (2015).

  • Kyeokyeo (Layered Time)
  • Choreography by Choi Jaehee
It aims to spatialize the accumulation of time and traces of layers.

The work “Kyeokyeo (Layered Time)” explores the visualization of time by examining the traces of overlapping temporal layers, both accidental and inevitable, throughout the process of life. It aims to intentionally reinterpret and spatialize the memories of traces stored and condensed in the body through the five senses. The work contemplates how to unravel and display various traces within a space, approaching the concepts of urgency and looseness in a moment through methods of deconstruction and recombination.
Choi Jaehee graduated from the Department of Dance at Jeonbuk National University, where she also earned her Master’s and PhD in Physical Education. She focuses on the essence of dance with the theme of “The Possibility of the Body.” Currently, she is the director of Performing Arts The MOMM and the 2024 Dance Director of the Dream Dance Troupe in Gunsan under the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, serving as well as a board member of the Contemporary Dance Association of Korea and the Korean Society for Dance Studies. In 2002, as the founding representative of the CDP_Coll. Dance Project, she received the Best Choreographer Award at the 26th Seoul Dance Festival for the work “Get Crossing.” In 2017, she received the Overseas Reviewers’ Award at the Seoul International Choreography Festival for “The Claws of a Sharp Earthworm” and was subsequently invited to the “DIG DANCE” at the “92Y Harkness Dance Center” in the United States in 2018. In 2022, she was invited as a resident choreographer at the TROIS C-L in Luxembourg, where she presented the results of “Independent Coexistence.”
