A profound encounter between a rifle that has “penetrated” history
and a writer who always thought about how to “utilize” it

Can a once-washed-up drama writer make a glamorous comeback?
“I’ve decided on the title, ‘Trigger.’ It’s the mechanism that fires a bullet.
I’m going to make this work my trigger.”
A Type 99 rifle produced in 1945
and a writer attempting to create a grand historical drama
based on a tumultuous life
The vivid scenes of history, always present among them
but pushed to the margins of the great flow
and erased from the narratives, “an old rifle” using its existence
to retell Korea’s modern history

Not just stopping at viewing the past
but colliding with the unavoidable survival methods of modern society called “capital and necessity,”
through the perspective of Nana, who is writing the rifle’s story into a “grand drama,”
this play questions the era of “consuming” history.
The story contained in “an old rifle” forgotten by everyone
and our modern history viewed from its perspective

“How can one bring down the Milky Way to cleanse their weapon?”
By shifting the focus between Acts 1 and 2,
the play offers a structure and direction that make it feel like watching two related works, preventing any sense of monotony.
This piece serves as an example of how a script and direction with different characteristics in the past and present
can create synergy.

Through the turbulent and unstable periods of Korea’s modern and contemporary history, one can glimpse the human experiences of pain, anguish, and joy within the fate and desires of Bbangya, a piece consumed by capitalism in the form of film.

SYNOPSIS
Nana’s finger rests on the trigger. Where will she aim the weapon?
A once-successful 40-something drama writer, Nana, who repeatedly fails to get her shows scheduled, discovers a “Type 99 rifle” in the props storage and begins writing with an all-or-nothing attitude to get her work on air.

However, as she spends more time with the rifle, her dilemma deepens. Should she introduce a standout protagonist or compromise with reality to get her work scheduled, or should she tell the story she truly wants to tell?

One day, while trying to persuade the rifle to tell its story as usual, Nana discovers that its trigger is not a typical one but has been altered with another piece of metal attached to it.
“If I tell you my story, can you grant my wish?”
Can Nana, against the vast commercial forces,
complete the rifle’s story in the way she wants?
Can the rifle finally fulfill its lifelong wish?
