We will keep you updated on any changes in the future.
Distancing Seating System

Body Temperature Measurement via Thermal Camera
  • Thermal cameras will be used to measure the body temperature of all visitors at the entrance and exit of the performance halls (ACC Theater and ACC Children).
  • ※ Thermal camera locations in ACC: ACC Creation / ACC Theater, Library Park, ACC Children
  • ※ Noncontact thermometer: Used in ticketing or by staff members as needed.

  • Visitors who do not comply with the body temperature measurement requirements will also be prohibited from entering the performance hall.
Mandatory Mask Policy
  • Visitors who do not wear masks will be prohibited from entering the performance hall, so we ask all our visitors to wear masks.
Personal Information Consent Form

  • ※ If you are visiting the ACC with a ticket booked in another person’s name, please fill out the consent form with your information.
The ACC is implementing mandatory temperature checks and mask-wearing policies for all ticket staff, guides, and crew. We ask our visitors to strictly maintain personal hygiene. Please refrain from visiting the center if you are suffering from a fever, cough, or sore throat, or if you recently visited another country.
All of us at the ACC will do our best to protect your right to enjoy our programs and foster a safe environment for all visitors. Thank you.

A message of consolation and optimism to return to normal in the new year
Thanks to medical personnel’s sacrifice and service and everyone’s efforts, we are slowly returning to the normal daily life taken away by the COVID-19 pandemic. In commemoration of the labor of medical personnel and people working to restore public safety and normalcy, the Asia Culture Center (ACC) has prepared an end-of-the-year concert to welcome a hopeful new year.

The seventh itineration of the 2021 ACC Year-End Concert features the Gwangju Symphony Orchestra, led by artistic director Seokwon Hong and pianist Yunchan Lim.

In the first part of the concert, Lim will play Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a piano concerto exemplifying the composer’s desire to overcome his limits.

The second part of the concert features Modest Mussorgsky’s most famous work, Pictures at an Exhibition. Mussorgsky wrote the piece after attending the memorial exhibition of his friend, Viktor Hartmann.

Hong received the highest praise from the provincial daily newspaper, Tiroler Tageszeitung, which wrote, “Fantastic Music! Conductor Hong made the entire audience dance.” Similarly, the European Opera magazine Merker said, “Conductor Hong Seokwon led the orchestra in making the most ideal sound of Strauss.”

Hong is also active in Korea’s opera scene. He has recently conducted extensive opera productions, including the Pyeongchang Olympic Commemoration Opera La Traviata and Massenet’s Manon, and received favorable comments. GWANGJU SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Gwangju Symphony Orchestra (GSO), the foremost orchestra in the cultural city of Gwangju, was founded in June 1976. The first principal conductor of the orchestra was Sin-deok Jang, the former leader of the Gwangju Civic Symphony. Since then, the orchestra has been led by Lee Yong Il, Hanni Henning, Geum No Sang, Nikolai Dia Ura, Im Pyeong Ryong, Kim Yong Yun, Gu Ja Bum, Christian Ludwig, Lee Hyun Se, and Kim Hongje. Seokwon Hong, the first Korean to be appointed as the principal conductor (Erster Kapellmeister) of an Opera Theater in Austria, serves as the orchestra’s 13th and present artistic director.
GSO has completed 358 regular concerts, presenting in-depth and exquisite musical explorations with some leading international conductors. It has also had nearly 1,000 performances, including the GSO Otium concert, accompanied by expert guides; GSO Chamber Music series, which brought GSO’s talents online; special performances with seasonal or thematic plans; and visiting art troupes for Gwangju locals.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016, the orchestra rented out Japan’s Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre to great acclaim. In 2017, the orchestra went on a concert tour in two European countries, performing at the Smetana Hall in Prague, Czech Republic, and the Linz Bruckner House in Austria. In 2019, the GSO established its reputation as Gwangju’s representative musical group through performances in the Gwangju FINA World Masters Championships 2019 Commemorative Outdoor Music Performance, Memorial Music Performance for President Kim Dae-jung, and annual Commemorative Music Performance for the 5.18 Gwangju Democratization Movement.
