Introduction
ACC Book Recital
Honmono Novelist Seong Haena
The ACC Library presents the “ACC Book Recital Concert: Honmono” performance to commemorate the ninth anniversary of its opening. This book recital features novelist Seong Haena’s short story, “Honmono,” brought to life by musical actors’ songs and performances, followed by an engaging discussion with the author.

Seong Haena’s “Honmono” is a dynamic tale of conflict between “Moon-soo,” a baksumudang (male shaman) whose divine intuition is lost after his guide, the Jangsuhalmeom, left him one day, and “Shinaegi,” a newbie shaman who moves into the house in front of Moon-soo’s place. Seong brings the unique world of Korean shamanism to life and asks questions about faith, disbelief, and sincerity for a human standing before an invisible deity, capturing the hypocrisy and assumed evil with sharp wit.
